Retake Roma

Working with the individuals involved with Retake Roma was an eye-opening experience for me. See how difficult it can be to change a culture that is set in its ways really opened my eyes to the cultural differences between the United States and Italy. We look down upon those who choose to litter or graffiti, however in Italy those are both considered normal.

  1. It was very weird that those were cultural norms in Rome dating back to the original Romans. I noticed that there was even graffiti on some of the ruins.

  2. An excellent paint made was that even the ancient Romans loved graffiti and is hard to chance a 2000 year old culture

  3. It was interesting to see the extremely different views on what is normal and what is looked down upon in different countries, or even just the different cities in Italy, since I noticed the graffiti and litter much more in Rome than any other city we visited and was disappointed that it tainted the city.

  4. It would be really cool to figure out ways to educate Italians to the environmental problems they are causing for themselves by littering. The abuse of graffiti is also something I thought to be very interesting because it's found all over the place
